WHERE DOES THE MONEY GO? 11 SEPTEMBER 2018

Each of the ADULT dogs is averaging $700-$1000 in vet costs to be "adoption ready". This includes: * Vet check * Deworming (they all had hookworms) * Vaccinations (DHLPP + rabies, as there are no records of any previous vaccines on these dogs, most of whom are 15 months to two years old) * Spaying or neutering * Boarding until they were able to go into their foster-to-adopt homes. * Several of the adults had eye infections and respiratory infections as well. * It is very fortunate that all but one of the adults are heartworm negative. * Because of the one dog with heartworms, all adults will be rechecked in six months. * This does not include the entropian surgery one of the adults had to have, * Nor does it include the veterinary bills for the dog with the double pneumonia. PUPPY costs include: * Each of the nine puppies will have well-puppy vet checks and at least two DHLPP vaccinations * At the appropriate age, TART will cover the spay/neuter cost for each puppy (SIX spays, THREE neuters). * Reimbursement receipts for whelping and rearing the puppies have been close to $500. The majority of that is for puppy kibble (for ALLIE and the pups) and for goat milk for the bitties' formula. While the Sherry has been a breeder for over forty years, all the whelping and puppy-rearing equipment is for shelties; Airedales just don't fit sheltie-size whelping and puppy-rearing supplies, so we needed pretty much all new items. Fortunately, she gave in to a whim several years ago when PetCo had its exercise pens on a drastic sale and bought two 48"-tall pens. Those are the pens that were combined to give ALLIE her own whelping and puppy nursery space. Then the bitties needed their own pen, etc. TART has had wonderful and generous donors who reached out to help the TEXAS11 +, whose funds have been needed to cover the bills to help these twenty dogs (including the puppies) into their new homes.
