ALLIE arrived emotionally shut down and for the first few days
we literally either carried her in and out or we moved her feet forward for her.
After a couple of days, ALLIE became comfortable enough
that she would walk on her leash and even say hello to my senior sheltie, Lance.
She whelped her litter on Wednesday, 8 August,
in a short four and a half hours. She had nine puppies total,
six born alive. All puppies weighed 8-10 ounces each.
ALLIE is young (about 15 months), but she is being an excellent mom.
There is a diversity of color among the puppies.
ALLIE is Airedale x Poodle; the father of the puppies is the Airedale.
There are two black-and-tan Airedale-colored,
two solid black like ALLIE and two brown with lighter tan markings.
Interestingly enough, the three stillborn pups were one of each color.
In the photo below, the two brown puppies are different shades of brown.
By 2.5 weeks their colors are closer to the same.
Ê
At 2.5 weeks, ALLIE's puppies are each weighing about three pounds.
May I present DALLAS (black and tan female on the left)
and AUSTIN (black and tan male on the right) . . .
Next we have the two black females - DILLY (on the left,
has a white spot on her chest) and KATY (on the right) . . .
And last, but certainly not least - HOUSTON
(originally the darker brown-and tan-female, on the left)
and FRISCO (brown-and-tan male on the right).
It will be interesting to see what color these puppies are as adults.
Ê
These puppies can be opinionated and most of them
don't hesitate to let the world know if they aren't pleased.
As long as mom's lunch counter stays easily accessible,
they are relaxed and happy.
Three days shy of their three-week birthday,
they graduated from their kids' wading pool to the entire exercise pen.
Several of them were climbing out of the pool and then
raising the roof because they couldn't get back to mom.
Just like BLUEBELL's puppies, these sextuplets are
already learning to keep their bedding clean and potty on their papers.
They will be introduced to a puppy litter box in the next couple of day.
Hope you enjoyed meeting ALLIE's gang.
They just fit into the Amazon.com box while waiting for their photo ops yesterday.
Wonder if they would qualify for Prime shipping?
Ê
Please give thoughts to those puppies who are
winging their way to the Rainbow Bridge.
