I adopted ERNESTINE - forever name GRACIE - three years ago . . . she is about 11 now, being one of the older of the 19. No doubt she is a black Airedale - with the attitude to prove it!

To my knowledge, only Gracie (f/k/a Ernestine) and red Charlie, the youngest of the red kids, are deceased. Charlie died late last year from stomach cancer. I don't know if you remember, but the entire pack would jump on him and beat the crap out of him whenever he poked his head out. I wonder if they knew and were trying to eliminate him from the gene pool. I still hear from most of the 19 from time to time and as far as I know, everyone else is alive and kicking. Poor Rosie, of course, was lost practically the first day she was placed and is presumed deceased, although it would be nice to dream that someone found her and saved her.
