GINGER
|
Ted & Teresa write:
GINGER behaved perfectly on the ride home. We introduced her to the house and yard last night. We were happy to observe the Airedale curiosity as she investigated her new home. She slept through the night without incident.
We took her for our daily walk this morning and she did very well on the leash. As for playing catch and with other toys, she has not shown any interest. I would suspect that she has not had the opportunity previously. We will continue to work on this. We are also working on basic commands. She has responded favorably. I expect her to be sitting on command in the very near future.
GINGER is a very sweet, loving dog. Thank you and everyone involved for your rescue efforts.
Just a quick note on sweet GINGER; we went to the vet and apparently she is younger than we thought, probably around 15 months She is down to 65 pounds and looks great! She is a sweet girl. We use a harness to walk and she is starting to get the hang of it. Everyone in the vet's office made [a fuss] over her - which she enjoyed. Hope the other dogs are finding homes. If you need a testimonial on how they will make a wonderful pet, we would be happy to assist.

On Friday, 25 July, Teresa writes:
GINGER is coming along but still has some real problems. She has never had an accident in the house and is wonderful when it is just Ted & me at home. Her biggest problem is barking and running away from anyone who comes into the house. My Mother-in-law comes every Sunday for dinner and it's a little unnerving having GINGER just stare and bark.
She also hates the razor; we were able to trim her bottom
and back but if you get anywhere near her face she comes undone. She is great on walks unless a bike goes by; she jumps in the air and barks. She also had quite an a meltdown last night when we ran into a male Mastiff.

But on the bright side she is the sweetest dog and seems happy most of the time. So I hope all the others who adopted these sweet dogs can be patient because in time I believe they will be wonderful family members. Thank You again for the wonderful work you and all the people involved in helping these Airedales find homes have done. | |
MADELINE
|
MADELINE is a little shy about coming inside, playful and young, clean habits, good weight. ADOPTED!!
And on 13 July, Sidney reports:
MADELINE has a Jack Russell for a friend in her new home.
|
That same day, her new parents write:
MADELINE & Tocchet (the Jack Russell) did well on the ride home. They cuddled up next to each other, in their seat belt harnesses. I took pictures, but don't know how they'll turn out. It was so cute to see her 50-pound puppy body next to his 15-pound body! We even caught them kissing a few times!
Once we got home, everything was strange and new to her. Tocchet was eager to show her around, although she was hesitant! She was very surprised to see a T.V., so she watched it for a minute. Little noises seem to startle her, but we reassure her that she's O.K. Her tail wagged a lot after a while and she showered us with kisses! She was so tired, she slept all night in her new "den" (doggy crate) and most of the morning.
Today, Sunday, she is coming around more. She is such a little sweetheart! She follows us around, loves biscuits (tries to "sit" for them already), and will explore the house more. She does NOT want to go outside in the heat, though. She really appreciates being a house dog. One time, she danced on her toes, smiled, and then threw her front paws down at her new brother - he got so excited, he just ran across the house to get a toy! She didn't know why he ran, so she just watched him!
She continues to come out of her crate more and more and our chins are covered more and more often with grateful kisses! She loves her new "Daddy," and is definitely a "Daddy's girl," as she follows him, wagging her tail so hard, her whole butt wiggles!
She is already the Princess of the house! She watches her brother play ball and with "Mommy" and "Daddy" and you can tell she wants to do it too. It will take time, patience, and lots of love, but we know she'll come all the way out of her shell. She can't resist the way we dote over her and are so excited to have her! She seems to be happy and more trusting little by little. She's just what we were looking for!
We are so grateful to all of you who took her (and the others) in and cared for them! If it wasn't for you, none of these wonderful dogs would have been able to add happiness and companionship to so many families!
