One word best describes MAGGIE - ADOPTED !! Let's hear a round of applause like at WOTA, for MAGGIE and her New Mom, Audrey (who reports on some of the other girls further down the page)!

Ph

MAGGIE
ADOPTED!!

LESLIE is a red female two years old and very afraid of people. She will need a special kind of Forever Home. ADOPTED!!

Ph

LESLIE
ADOPTED!!
(Forever Name is LILLY)

On 17 June, Audrey reports:

She has hope - she would come up to me for treats and came back looking several times. I could get her to touch my fingers. This is one that hid and I said to her, "I see you", and she didn't come out but her little tail was a-wagging!!

She is the one that couldn't pass by the other lady that was out to see Kathy, but she could go by me okay. (I had to hide behind the house when Kathy first brought the dogs out so this one would not see me otherwise LESLIE would not have gone into the pen.)

When we (myself and the five female dogs) lined up against the fence to talk to BUDDY (called SAM below), she could get close to me without a problem and could pass by me without a problem. (PROGRESS!)

SAM is a black & tan male, four to five years old, handsome but with Flying Nun ears and stub tail, very nice dog, will sit on command and shake, eager to please. Not housebroken.

On 17 June, Audrey reports:

This is the dog I called BUDDY. He is nice-looking and sweet and yes, Kathy says he is peeing on everything. Not housebroken, probably, or else since two females are in heat, he is leaving his scent??? ADOPTED!!

SAM

(Forever Name is BUSTER)

Ph

ERNESTINE
ADOPTED!!
(Forever Name is GRACIE)

ERNESTINE is a black female, eight to nine years old, maybe more, overweight, calm, clean habits. ADOPTED!!

On 17 June, Audrey reports:

This is the dog I said I really liked - next to MAGGIE, [she] is the most friendly and really wants attention. She would be a sweet companion to someone; [she is] eager to please and knows some commands (really didn't have time to test many commands, but she sat when asked to and when told to leave my stuff alone, listened and obeyed immediately. Also stopped barking at the Wheatens when told to), and she got along well with her "sisters".

GRACE is a red female of two years, somewhat shy, likes to play ball. ADOPTED!!

On 17 June, Audrey reports:

She is still shy, but not as shy as LESLIE. She would come to me for treats and could touch my fingers. She responded when I would say "thank you" when she touched my fingers. She will come around, I'm sure, with the proper socializing.

GRACE

Ph

NINA
ADOPTED!!
(Forever Name is PHOENIX)

NINA is a black female, three years old, somewhat shy, clean habits. ADOPTED!!

On 17 June, Audrey reports:

She is shy, but [I] had her touching my fingers by the end of the hour. I think she is scared, and [she is] the smallest of the three shy dogs.

Not much personality coming forward yet, but I think she would be sweet - I believe, with a new home, she would start trusting and open up. She watches everything going on. And again, since she is small, [she] stayed to the back because of shyness and size, but would come to me.

ADELINE is a standard black & tan girl and a lovely example of the breed. She is small and well-built. She is adorable, extremely friendly, very kissy, walks well on lead; she is, in general, an excellent little lady. ADOPTED!!

On 17 June, Audrey reports:

CHARLIE: Poor CHARLIE, he's the one that wouldn't come out of his run, but he jumped up to the gate to get petted and talked to. ADOPTED!!

Kathy felt my time spent with the FIVE FEMALE doggies was good - she felt progress was made. Just getting LESLIE to be around me was great. It also gave MAGGIE a chance to be with me, which she wanted very badly - she loves attention, as does ERNESTINE. But after the first few minutes of treats, etc., I tried to work with the others. ADOPTED!!

It took MAGGIE a while before she would even leave my side (I think she knows I'm her new Mommy). The dogs ran and played and it went well - they would come by me to check for treats - that's how I got them to touch my fingers. I stopped giving out treats and then when I didn't have a treat in my fingers, I would just say, "thank you" - giving them a verbal response for getting close to me and touching my fingers or hand. None of the five girls was aggressive.
