Only for a dog would I go out in the pouring rain . . . and yes, indeed, it was an Airedale, whom they had named Krum. Don't ask me why. Took some pictures; drove back home and reported to Paula that we could bring him to Fond du Lac almost any time after he was available. Started to make this website; realized I had used a camera with no flash card in it.
Neal & I returned to Countryside on Tuesday, ready to bring newly-named Beau Brummel to Fond du Lac and what we thought might be his relatives. The animal control agent who had captured him happened to be in, so he told us BB's situation; Reported loose on Saturday; not captured until the agent enticed him into a garage with a stray Westie he had with him, on Monday. Who knows how long since BB had been dumped, as we think, out by the Racine Aireport, which is waaaaaay out in the country.
BB, he said, is NOT a happy dog on a leash; he fights and stuggles and just won't quit. However, in the days he had been at Countryside, he had calmed down considerably; he & Neal had no trouble putting him into the crate in our SUV.
Several of the workers thanked us for coming to get him so he will be with people who understand Airedales.
So here we are, on the road again to Fond du Lac & Schreiner's, with a skittish BoyDale in Misha & April's crate.
We stopped to drop off some things at a friend's house in Racine (who came out to admire him and showed us their foster girl, Evi); we picked up dog food for the Skrenninger Six-Pack. For about 30 minutes, he stared pointedly at the bag of food; then he gave up and went to sleep for the rest of the trip.
