Jenny wrote that his first day was very successful. He followed Jonah, their son, around and then stayed up late decorating Christmas trees with her. On Saturday, all of the household dogs were home from their Thanksgiving stay at a local kennel. There are two Basenjis, one dachshund mix, and Alice the Irish setter. CJ, of course, got along well with all of them and spent a lot of the day playing with Alice who was delighted to have a playful puppy of her own.

Thinking about what a long, strange trip it's been . . .

Cheryl Silver writes:

Oh my goodness, what a doll baby this boy is and has he ever found the right spot in the universe for him . . . . I was at the adoptive home for four hours - actually, these folks are friends from Basenji Rescue. They have fostered for me numerous times and I placed one basenji with them. This is a dog-crazy family and they are soooo charmed by this boy . . .

And he is providing a lot of relief for the adoptive mom. One of their dogs is a two-year-old Irish setter who is as playful and as goofy as they come and she & Captain Jack just love play, play, playing. Now that Jenny doesn't have Alice (the setter) constantly dropping toys at her feet and on her lap wanting some action . . . Alice & CJ can just chase and chew on each other and then crash for a brief respite.

Alice is putting up with stuff from her new brother that she doesn't put up with from her doggie sisters. Today he had one of her favorite bones and Jenny & I watched Alice put together a plan to get it from our boy. She finally found a toy that she thought she could seduce CJ with and she was right - he abandoned the favorite toy and Alice was on it in a heartbeat. Jenny & I cracked up laughing.

I could go on and on about how precious he is - Jenny tells me that now she believes she will never be without an Airedale in her life.

Captain Jack must be the most-photographed Airedale ever . . . see the pictures of his new life HERE. Without the donations to the Pirata de México Fundraiser, his life would have been short . . . and a waste of a wonderful dog! Jenny tells us that CJ was the STAR of his obedience class.
