STARTING THE NEW YEAR
WITH ENZO
2 JANUARY 2007

Sue writes:

Because only two visits per week are permitted, we journeyed across Melbourne this afternoon to see Enzo, and to assure him that after today, only nine more days remain in Quarantine. I will make the second visit later in the week, hopefully Thursday.

As before, he was just delighted to see us, and the bigblacknose made a dive for the red bag, while the bum wagged furiously, and the XXXX-sized paws paddled up and down with the odd swipe sideways. Another knee-nudge, and we were out the gate and off to the playpens.

It was hot and humid today, so we made camp under the big shady tree, noting in passing that the grass had greened up a little since the wonderful rain over Christmas. (We've even gotten a faint fuzz of green at Wombat Bend, not enough to damage the mower though).

He entered into a game with Bill, who hid behind the tree with a treat and then popped his head around the branches - here you are, Enzo! He does love his chicken treats.

His big paws paddle around in an engaging manner, though it is plain that arthritis has got a grip on his hind quarters, something I will address immediately we take him home. I think the last five winters in Czech Republic haven't exactly helped his senior bones, so in a way, even the warmer climate he is now in will be a help.

We could only stay for an hour or so this time, but it was better than nothing. And he really melts my heart when I leave him, he is so accepting of it - I make sure there are some treats on his bed as a little prize for being such a good laddie.

Nine days to go, Enzo.

Sue, busy explaining to the Elastic Band at home that a new boy is coming to stay soon!

CINDY & TALLULAH:

I love reading about your visits with Enzo. He is so very lucky to have you to come and visit him. He is quite a big boy. I can't get over the size of his feet and I love the way one ear sticks straight up in the air. He is certainly a handsome boy.

I can't wait until he can go home with you and your family. He will love that. He has had so many disruptions in his life but thanks to you, he will certainly be able to put them behind him.
