UPDATE ON ENZOPRIZE THE EMMA WALL HANGING 3 JANUARY 2007

Sue writes: When Maureen Scott won the EnzoRaffle First Prize of Emma's Wall Hanging, I explained that it was not quite finished, and that its creator, Jeannie Abbott, would be working on its completion over the next few weeks. I visited Jeannie yesterday to view this art heirloom piece. Knowing the incredible amount of skill and time that Jeannie is devoting to it, I was quite speechless to see what she has achieved since my last visit just before Christmas. With the bulk of the picture now created, she has embarked on the stitching of hundreds of tiny tiny flowers spreading in drifts across the foreground. These will be highlighted with bead centres, catching the light in little sparkles. She has yet to add the (almost) three-dimensional figure of Emma herself, and the White Swallow, both of which she has made but which won't be added till the last. The wings of the White Swallow project from the fabric they are stitched into, so she actually 'flies'. The whole of the picture is now stitched into its midnight blue silk outer 'matt', on a backing of deep crimson silk. We both fell in love with these silks when selecting the fabrics and even though the crimson won't be seen (unless you turn it over), neither of us could resist the colour and its texture. Once completed, I will of course photograph it (endlessly). and it may find its way temporarily into an upcoming Exhibition (and possibly a Craft & Stitches Magazine) before winging its way to Canada. I don't think Maureen will mind a slight delay. After all, she & the Alpha Male have to build the extra room onto the house, and this will just give them a wee bit more time. MAUREEN SCOTT: I can hardly wait to see the Wall Hanging! Pictures will be lovely, Sue, while the actual art work is displayed at exhibitions in your world. This is incredibly exciting. Not a great many good things have happened to the Scott family during this past year. The marvelous Wall Hanging will make up for quite a lot of the harrowing times we have endured in 2006 . . . . Extra room added to the house? We may need to acquire an entirely new house to match the opulence of the Wall Hanging! EVIE FIESELER: You know, Maureen, you're going to have to host a NORTH AMERICAN AIRE EVENT when you get the wall hanging up, whatever house you end up in! MARE MOORE Sue, we are ALL waiting with bated breath to see those pics, but one knows one cannot rush a masterpiece in the making! Photos will not depict this piece in all its artistic glory but will have to suffice for those of us unable to view the actual wall hanging in person (although Maureen may have to prepare for a future influx of AIREfolk). I can't think of any who are more deserving for this wonderful creation to grace their home than Maureen & her Circus!
