But no. I'm silly. 'Course we don't go underground. We drove in and Auntie Sue said something about getting the others (what others, there's only me, I'm Enzo) and Uncle Bill said he'd help me out and we'd go for a little walk. Yipppeeeee! all those smells I could smell out there, just waiting to be smelled.
Suddenly there's two more like me. Where'd they come from? One of them, well oh boy, she's pretty! Here's Ascha says Bill. And here comes another; he has black ears, this is Aerem says Bill. We wag our tails and do lots of sniffing & happy dancing.
Then here comes Auntie Sue with somebody on a lead, he looks friendly but not too sure about me. Oh well, let's just wander around and maybe he won't think I'm too bad. I like him . . . he just has to have a bit of time to get to know me. Wonder what his name is? What's that? Chester? mmm, that's nice. I wag my tail at him and he wags back.
We go off down a path and oh boy, those yummy smells & trees & grass & bushes & more trees and uh oh, what's THAT???? A billybong says Bill. A what???? looks like a big water thing to me. Well, says Aerem, that's what it is, a big water thing to wade in & drink & play in & get cool in.
Sounds good to me! I'm going in too. Slurp slurp slurrrrrppp. Ahhh, even my tummy is cool again. I like this!
After a bit, we go into the house and I have to check out all the corners. It's kind of a funny house 'cuz it's round so there aren't too many corners. Auntie Sue comes with me, and Ascha too, and I get to know all the places and where the water bowl is and there seems to be a LOT of beds everywhere. Kind-of-just-right-for-Airedales sort of beds. Wonder if one is for me. I like the one over by that window.
Oh boy, am I tired now. Think I might have a nap.
When I wake up, I hear Auntie Sue say okay, let's have a little walk outside, it's cooler now and then we'll have dinner. Seeing I missed breakfast, that sounds good to me. Now THAT'S what I call dinner, oooh boy it was nice. I cleaned that plate up really good.
Bill says we're going for another walk now, with our coffee. Well, not coffee for me, just for them. I like this walk stuff, there's so many smells & the grass is nice & cool for my paws and the others are running & snuffing and telling me about rabbits & things. I just amble along thinking to myself that this is going to be good, I like being home at . . . what's it called? oh yeah, I remember. Wombat Bend.
Yawwwwnnnnnnnn. Tell you what, how about I have another nap now and maybe in the morning I can write you another letter. I think my Mum Sue has done some photos, she said something about sending them to Andréa but I don't really know what that means.
But before I go to sleep, one really really important thing I want to say. It's only a little word really but I'm saying it with the biggest voice I can make.
THANK YOU for bringing me HOME. I know there's a little bit more to go, but right now, I am pretty happy just right here.
I love my AuntieMum Sue & my Uncle Bill and my new friends Ascha (did I tell you how pretty she is?) & Aerem (he's a really kind buddy) & Chester who does lots of waggy tails at me now, he's really nice too.
Yawwwwnnnnnnnnnn again, I'm going to that nice soft bed by the window.
G'night ---- I love you all and I know you love me - Enzo @ Wombat Bend.

Hi Sue - Great to read about Enzo's homecoming - at least to your home! Hope everything continues well for him - if you're taking him to Sydney (not sure what the timeline is) and are passing through Beechworth, call in and our two will give him a big welcome and a swim in the lake (actually Beechworth's water supply) to cool off!

MAREIKE KUYPERS:
I cried when I read your message to us from Enzo. I'm just so happy that he is safely at Wombat Bend. Can Chester be off-lead with him yet, or are they still wagging from a distance? I've been so worried about Enzo because he is an elderly boy. It sounds like he is a strong healthy boy and who knows . . . maybe he will be the Airedale to live to be 27.
Thank you so much for what you have done. I admit I am envious of Enzo since I told you that I would be moving in with my three Airedales and he is actually there.
