JACKIE McGUINNESS:
What a lovely way to have breakfast . . . I can almost smell the coffee and hear the birds singing.
ELIZABETH HURTT:
The bird singing really is a treat at Wombat Bend . . . there's a hanging bit of hollowed-out tree trunk on the verandah right outside the kitchen window. Every morning Sue and Bill put out birdseed and all the cockies, galahs, rosellas, king parrots, blue wrens & water birds come and feed - it's glorious.
On 28 January, Sue adds:
Enzo continues to delight us, and with five more weeks at Wombat Bend before we take him to Sydney, I am sure he will be as fit as a cricket by then. Every day he is stronger, his muscle tone is increasing and he has such zest for life & fun he is an inspiration.
He just loves being included in whatever is going on, and doesn't miss a trick. Nobody can believe he has travelled around the world, on top of a year of extraordinary upheaval & loss, uncertainty and dislocation, yet has come through it all with such style & resilience.
Ascha & Aerem & Chester include him in all their adventures and love having an older brother around . . . there was a charming moment today when we went for a drive up to one of our nearby high (well, not as high as in Colorado!) mountains and I was tickled to see Enzo lying on the back seat with Ascha, his nose tucked up against her hind leg, both asleep amongst their cushions. Talk about relaxed.
