Although it's only a two-hour drive from Goulburn to Sydney, we had some business visits to make along the way, meaning that our arrival at Atia's home would be around mid-afternoon. Negotiating Sydney's traffic is no fun at the best of times, and avoiding peak hour scrambles was a must. We drew into Atia's street and parked a short distance from the front gate - the house was easily recognisable by the huge cut-out cardboard bone and balloons hanging from the veranda!
While Bill waited, I clipped on Enzo's leash and we walked to the gate. I was startled to feel the leash tighten as he surged ahead, through the gate and up the steps to the door. Enzo had never been to this house yet clearly he knew the smells & read the messages that HERE was very special.
A knock at the door brought an answering call from Atia, as she ran to open it. In a flurry of sobs we held each other tightly, barely able to breathe, while Enzo trotted along the passage and began his inspection of his new home.
Atia & I try to hold each other up as we meet for the first time.
Enzo is about to give Atia a knee-nudge "Hallo!"
Getting to know you . . . getting to know all about you . . .
. . . First treats . . .
Enzo looks out of his front door
We all sat down; immediately, Enzo settled beside Atia.
Look at those smiling eyes.
(Be sure to catch Enzo's smile!)
