Enzo My Hero
LISA ASHTON, KNUTE, SABINE & MAX:
What a wonderful journey; thank you for sharing it . . . Airedalers are the best.
ELLEN McGEAGH:
This?
ELIZABETH BERRY & THE BERRYDALES: I am still amazed that this all came together the way it did; it truly restores my faith in human nature. I have only one request as I sit here clutching my box of tissues: would you please put me on the list for a copy of Enzo's Journey when it comes out? Thank you & everyone who helped Enzo along the way for everything you all did to make this happen. If this had been fiction, I would have said it could never have happened in real life . . .
Elizabeth, red-eyed in Virginia with the Berrydales (what in the world is the matter with HER?!)
MELINDA COSTA, FAULKNER, TOOTSIE & HUTCH: I agree with everyone's comments - Enzo's Journey must be written! Thank you and all of the other wonderful people who helped this beautiful boy to make it to Australia!
As everyone has done, I had to reach for the box of tissues!
TAIMI HAENSEL, ULLY & PIM: Just amazing. Thank you, Sue. Thank you, Andréa.
Everyone here at home is giving you thumbs up, one ear up and one ear down.
ADELE & CLIFF GRAUE: We have a beloved Nell who is almost 14 years old - she is not a rescue but we raised her by choice from a puppy. She is the third member of our family and has enjoyed retirement with us. Because of her we have met many people and made many friends. Our friend Kathy Shaw & I have helped with Airedale Rescue Transport and participate in the fun activities in Missouri & Kansas. On Christmas Day 2002, Cliff & I sailed into Melbourne on a cruise ship. We were on deck and saw a lady on the dock with a handsome AIREDALE. We were nearing the end of our trip and missed our NellieBelle so much, seeing the lady & her dog brought tears to our eyes. We loved & cried over Enzo's Journey and along with this wonderful story we have once again relived our special time in Melbourne . . . 'tho that was so long ago, we remember the lady, looking like Sue Forrester, with the dog! We have shared the story of Enzo with people in New Jersey, Nebraska & here in Missouri - people are amazed, not only about Enzo's life and return to his owner, but how wonderful people can be. Many people we have shared with knew nothing about ATRA, but they do now and have wonderful feelings about the organization, people involved and most especially, dear, handsome Enzo & his family.
What a story!
KRISTINE, DAN & MATTHEW THOMASON & MAGGIE MAY, CINDER ELLA & KRISTINE'S WHOLE OFFICE: For the past nine months, I have shared the story of Enzo and his travels with my co-workers. At first, there were just three who listened to the story. I read it to everyone as it was printed. By Halloween, there were eight people standing around my desk as I read the latest update on Enzo. At the Christmas gathering in our office, the employees had heard of the story of Enzo and asked for an update. January rolled around and I was asked to tell the whole company what was happening with Enzo. They did not want to get the update via email,; they were insistent that I personally continue the saga verbally. The problem with this was that I would cry and get choked up each time I shared the story with a bigger crowd. I have to say at this point I could look around the crowd and although they were smiling, there were tears rolling down cheeks. When I read the superb description of the trip to get Enzo to Sidney and to his Mum Atia & Maia. I had the undivided attention of almost the whole company, Vice President included. My co-worker shared the comment which spread through the office like wildfire - that at 10 a.m., Kristine was going to read "Enzo finally sees his family in Sydney". Everyone has been amazed when I showed the list of people who participate with time, effort, money, gifts, driving, visiting, lots of love. There was a great round of applause when I finished reading. Not only did we all become one large compassionate office, but they learned what Airedale Terrier Rescue is all about, they have learned about ADTs, and they saw what a group of virtual strangers can do when they offer a helping hand. One of my friends said, "It seems once you fall in love with an Airedale, a person will do almost anything for that dog and it is catching." You are amazing, Sue, I am in Awe of you & your husband. You ROCK!
Good Job!
