How is Enzo today?
(I couldn't bear to wait till this evening to call Atia, so phoned her mid-morning - it's Monday here in Oz).
Enzo is doing well. He is resting, nice & peacefully. No eye twitching, no apparent nausea, walking well enough for a small stroll down the path and along the street a short way, and his interest in breakfast was very definite!! yes please!!
Atia feels he is vastly better. And with evidence to prove it, Lizzie called in early this morning on her way up to the lower Blue Mountains on a family visit to her little grandson, and Enzo went mad with joy to see her. Lots of kneenudges & headbutts & pawslaps for his favourite Auntie Lizzie.
So I guess we can say he's a lot, lot better, and has no idea of the extra grey hairs he generated in all of us. It certainly looks like Vestibular Syndrome (and thanks to Paul Diggins for the website details for any who need to learn more about IT HERE. Maureen Scott is also a great fund of knowledge and experience in VS).
There have been so many many emails arriving for Enzo that it will take me some time to send them on to Andréa for his pages and to forward them up to Atia. But please, just know that each & every one of your notes of comfort & concern are valued greatly.
It is YOU, all of you, who have brought him back to us. (I wonder when the medical fraternity will figure a way to bottle AireZen? Or maybe WE should, and raise lots of $$$$ for Rescue? ... but then, I rather think AireZen is priceless, and can't be captured. It exists because we have faith in its power. It can't be bought or sold, but it is infinite in its supply.)
And Enzo has become an Honorary Welsh Terrier. He has fan mail from Welshies everywhere, thanks to Marie & the Vegas Pack.
Sue in Oz, where life never slows down --
(ps There will be some more of Sue's Potting Shed aka The Barn very soon. Today, Paul the Plumber is fixing the spouting to catch the rain, when &if it ever falls again. Bill the Builder has been adding final touches too.)
PATTI WEBSTER & BISCUIT: We are sending our Zen, love & prayers for Enzo & his family as well. Please keep us all updated.
Sue & Bill - we are sending love & prayers your way as well - keep positive.
MARIE & THE VEGAS PACK: I took the liberty of posting your email about Enzo to Welsh-L. I just sent them the fabulous update as well. What a horrific scare! I don't even know how to express the relief in knowing he's back home.
I'm forwarding all the email wishes from Welsh-L.
JILL GRAHAM & LUCY & SKIPPY: A message for Enzo. Thinking of you and wishing you well soon!
Love all the way from Arizona.
DAVE TYGART & PEL: We're sending our most supercharged (to get halfway around the world) best wishes to Enzo . . . it'd be a stone bitch if, after all that was done to get him to his mistress & child, he strokes out. That he has recovered some function bodes well and if there's one thing I've learned in the time I've had terriers in my life, it's not to count them out. What Marie said was heard on the wind as:
Please ........... we know how powerful our worldwide AireZen is and Enzo needs your love & care & AireThoughts like never before.
IRIS FOX:
How awful. After everything Enzo has been through and Atia waiting so long. We will be keeping good thoughts & prayers for a happy ending. Please keep us informed.
PETRA SANKARI & LAKU: We are sending our strongest Welshie Vibes to Enzo. Poor guy has been through so much.
We hope to get good news from Down Under soon.
JOANN, IAN & MAXIE:
This poor guy! At least he is with his family; hopefully, that will help him recover from this. Sending the strongest Welshie vibes possible. Please let us know as soon as you have an update on him. He's endured so much, I hope his spirit is strong enough to get over this additional hurdle.
LOWELL THOMAS, PEPPER & TAFFY:
Prayers for Enzo in the land Down Under
CAROLYN & MOSBY:
Sending strong Welsie Vibes to Giant Welsh Enzo.
PAULA JOSEPH JOHNSON: Dearest Enzo, You have repeatedly shown us how strong you are -- in body, in mind, & in heart. Keep the faith and know lots of people all over the world hold you in our prayers.
So glad you're returning home.
RACHEL ROSENTHAL & BARNEY: That's great news!
I've been following his story since you first linked us to it here. I just knew he'd pull through! He is one amazing Airedale! Good thoughts continue to go his way.
TERRY: Oh, Enzo, I'm so glad you're doing better!
Vestibular syndrome isn't rare; I've had two Welshes that got it when they were old. There is no treatment; it goes away on its own. An attack does look like a stroke. The eyes will be darting wildly back & forth, or they may be turning in little circles. This can make the dog feel dizzy/nauseous. You can take Dramamine. I hope you never get another bout of this. Hang in there, big guy!
CHRIS C.:
I didn't get to write yesterday but read your news about ENZO and thought about him all day. I am so happy to read this morning that he is on the road to recovery. He certainly is a special dog and I'll keep him in my prayers!
