Ummm . . . I guess he is feeling pretty frisky and right at home.
Bad legs and all, he got up on the love seat all by himself.
Kirby is wondering why, since HE doesn't get to go up there.
We had a pizzle stick lying on our counter last night;
guess whom we caught getting on his back legs to get on the counter?
It surprised all of us; we were standing right there.
He already knows where the food & treats are kept
and has pawed at the pantry door a few times.
It's funny how quick Finn can be when he wants to be.
He has grabbed toast off of my breakfast plate a couple of times already.
I looked away for only a second . . . he is a hungry guy.
At 6:00 this morning, he was barking & scratching at
the closet door where he knows the food is kept.
I think he forgets about the stiffness sometimes and
I see him moving with a pretty good gait while barking at
something he wants out in our yard. Then coming back, he limps more.
We can certainly tell he is getting stronger with therapy.
Still a long way to go. The vet (pictured doing the laser therapy)
says for the surgeries Finn has had, he is doing amazingly well.
She says he is doing as well as any dog that had had only one of his surgeries.
Sometimes he walks very well and other times he still has trouble.
He seems to like going to therapy quite a bit.
He & Kirby have become pretty good buddies,
but it is still pretty wild around our house.
Finn likes to hoard toys and Kirby likes to sneak in to steal them.
For a guy that has spent a lot of time alone, Finn sure demands attention.
If he is in a room alone he uses his "pity me" bark
so someone will come and keep him company.
He's learning how to play a little more.
We are making progress on his understanding that my arm is not a chew toy.
He would not follow me upstairs to bed last night.
He was pretty comfy on his main floor bed,
so I thought he wanted to stay there.
As soon as I made it upstairs I heard some loud noises.
Finn had gotten up when I left his view and countersurfed
some blueberry muffins onto the floor.
He had not yet gotten them open by the time I got to him.
We shared them at breakfast this morning.
For an experienced Airedale mother, Michelle should have known better
than to leave ANYTHING on the counter,
no matter how far back she thinks it is!
We're happy he has not gained any weight since we have had him.
But he hasn't lost the five pounds they want him to lose.
Tough family for him to diet with. And if a cupboard is open his nose is in it.
The pain seems to magically disappear when food is involved.
And the most recent update:
Finn doesn't want to go anywhere else!
I think he likes his family. Even Kirby.
He has started to play tug-of-war with Kirby.
At first he did not get it. Kirby used to do it with our previous Airedale,
so now he waves a toy in front of Finn.
Finn is home with Jim, Michelle & Kirby Hansen.
