. . . AND A NEW REHAB TEAM
15 JANUARY 2007

Goldie now has her water therapy at Alameda East Veterinary Hospital in Denver.

If Alameda East Vet Hospital sounds familiar, it may be because that is the site for the filming of the EMERGENCY VETS series of programs you've seen on Animal Planet. In fact, a new series of programs is starting on Animal Planet this month. Could Goldie possibly be featured in one of their future programs? We don't know at this point, but wouldn't that be great?

When Priscilla & Allan Lundblad recently took over fostering Goldie, they moved her care to Alameda East, where they take their three Airedales. The staff at Alameda East has already fallen in love with Goldie, providing wonderful care. We will be introducing you to this staff as we continue with our Goldie reports.

I hope everyone who received a copy of the Goldie DVD is enjoying it. I had the great pleasure of having my dear friend, Edith Pendleton, the donor of that DVD, visit me this week from Florida. On Monday, Edith accompanied Mary Gade, Rick Schnellmann & me to visit Goldie's new hospital and sit in on her water therapy session with Priscilla. Rick & Mary took photos so we could share the experience with you.

Before Goldie's therapy session, Edith (in the red jacket) finally had the opportunity of meeting Goldie & Priscilla.

Edith & I observe as therapist Tammy Wolfe eases Goldie into the warm-water therapy pool. I'm happy to report that we found this hospital is very well-equipped, with many up-to-date therapies if Goldie needs them.

Ph

There she goes! Goldie is guided around the pool by Tammy. When she is in the water, Goldie uses both back legs & her hips, which is so encouraging. We have hope that Goldie will regain use of at least one of her back legs, which would give her walking ability. I say at least one since one leg is stronger than the other, and we know a three-legged dog can walk. No, I definitely don't give up on the possibility of her regaining use of both legs. Only time and dedication to her rehabilitation will tell us.

Following her work in the pool, Goldie receives electric muscle stimulation which is administered by therapist Tammy Wolfe (right), as Edith gives Goldie a little massage.

Tammy's credentials are:
BSPT (Bachelor of Science Practitioner)
CCRP (Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner)
GCFP (Guild Certified Feldenkrais Practitioner)

At the end of the session, Goldie gives kisses to Foster Mom Priscilla. I think Goldie is a happy camper, don't you?

A huge thank you to all our donors. Because of you, Goldie's therapy can continue! Our Goldie team is dedicated to give this brave Airedale every opportunity possible to regain use of her legs and to be able to walk again!

Remember, if you're a Goldie donor, YOU ARE ON THE GOLDIE TEAM!
