LUCY IS UP FOR ADOPTION

31 DECEMBER 2009

Paula writes:

Lucy came into rescue due to a breeder "getting rid of his stock." Lucy did not know anything about living indoors until this past month. She is now residing at a foster home called Camp Lackner.

When Lucy came into rescue, she was spayed and several mammary tumors were removed. One tumor had ruptured; the pathology report indicated cancer. We do not have a prognosis on her life expectancy. Our vet was able to remove all of the cancerous tissue around the mammary tumors, so we are hoping that she will have time to enjoy life for a while.

One would never know she has cancer as she is very active and loves to play. She currently resides in a home with six other dogs. Her favorite place is to be in the kitchen. She loves to be lying on her bed in front of the woodstove taking in the heat. She has made great strides in discovering the kitchen counters and has won her gold medal in the field of countersurfing. She loves her food, especially her treats, and occasionally is able to get a morsel of human food from her foster Dad.

Lucy has an alpha personality so would do best with another laid-back pal, or to be the one-and-only in a home. She seeks out attention on a regular basis from the humans and loves to be petted. We are not sure about cats at this point, as we are trying to find one where we can test her reaction around them.

She is crate-trained and housebroken. She has been left out of her crate while the humans have been gone for several hours and she was not destructive. She is a runner, so she will require a fenced-in yard. She will also need a patient groomer as she is not fond of being groomed.

Lucy has made great strides in a month and will make someone a wonderful friend. WouldnÕt it be nice to have an Airedale that seeks out your attention & affection? She truly deserves a home she can call her own after having had so many pups in her life.
