Cheyenne came into rescue due to a breeder "getting rid of his stock."
Cheyenne does live up to her name, "Shy Ann."
She has been at Camp Lackner (foster home) for over a month now
and we have learned she is a sweetheart but fearful of everything.
We call her Annie now and Annie will probably be a
"work in progress" for her entire life.
She is fearful of many things: doorways, furnace noise, the answering machine . . .
you get the idea, but each day it seems a little less extreme.
There are days we take two steps forward and one step back,
but she is truly worth the effort.
She prefers to eat in her crate, but we have been coaxing her out
inch by inch each day to get her more comfortable eating outside of her crate.
At night, she now sleeps on a bed in our bedroom along with the other dogs.
We currently leave a long lead on her when she is outside in our fenced in yard.
Annie sometimes is afraid to come inside so it is easier
to get close to her with the lead.
She has a favorite squeak toy now and carries it with her all over the house.
She does get possessive of some things,
but we are teaching her to "drop it" and then give it back to her.
She loves one-on-one attention and
gives out butterfly kisses as a thank-you.
Annie is spayed, up-to-date on vaccinations,
crate-trained, housebroken and microchipped.
She will need a home with LOTS of patience, love &
acceptance of her quirks. A fenced yard is a must,
as is another dog to help her along and make her feel comfortable.
If you feel you have the ideal home for this little rescue and
would welcome a "work in progress", please let me know.
