I just spoke with A&M and Lizzy is acting like a normal 1.5-year-old Airedale! She is very energetic and chewed thru her ECG line last night. I told her that is Lizzy's way of letting us know she is ready to come home!
She has not been on any heart medication and has a nice, slow and normal heart rate this morning! She's been moved from ICU to intermediate care and had a normal stool this a.m. Atta girl!
At this point, we are just waiting on the bloodwork to determine if her ALT has come down. We should know in a few hours. Hopefully I can go and get her today!
Cheryl adds:
We are all still awaiting the great news that Lizzy can
be at home. Then we will be awaiting direction on handling her heartworm infestation.
KRISTINE THOMASON:
Oh Jody, that is such good news. Again, the power of everyone's prayers is miraculous.
At 11:30 a.m. CDT, Jody replies:
It sure is!!
Guess what? I'm leaving now to go get Lizzy! YIPPEE!
At 7:30 p.m. CDT, Jody lets us know: Lizzy's home!
We couldn't be more thrilled. She is doing great and eating like a horse like her old self again.
She has to go back to my vet in two weeks to double check her liver ALT enzyme and for an ECG, and then back to A&M in four weeks. She is on an antibiotic for four more days for any potential bacteria in her gut, and denosyl for her liver enzyme. It's lowered considerably, but still needs to come down some more.
She's been off any heart meds since yesterday at 8:00 a.m. and her heart is doing just fine. The heart rate is back to normal speed and no more arrhythmias.
I can't say enough good things about A&M. They literally saved her life.
Thank you everyone for your continued prayers & support. I have let Lizzy know the world is watching her story and wishing her a fast & full recovery.
