A few hours after our return from bringing BOSCO to Fond du Lac, Paula Lackner writes:
There is a male Airedale in the Kenosha News for $50.
Can you check it out?
I called the number and spoke to a man who was not interested in Rescue at all. (I never said I was good at phone calls!) So, Plan B was put into action: Mission Impossible. Neal, of course, would play the part of Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) . . .
'Ethan' called, posed as an interested buyer, and made an arrangement to see the dog Monday afternoon.
I reminded him, "You know nuttin' 'bout Rescue!"
We learned that there might be a female available, too, so we hoped to pull whatever we could. I made arrangements with my vet to bring the dog(s) immediately to him to be vetted and boarded. Oh, did I mention that the dog had NEVER BEEN TO A VET OR HAD SHOTS?
Everything was in place: new collars and leads purchased; vet appointment made; code words on the phone in case I needed to come out with another crate for a second dog . . . now it was a case of waiting.
