On 11 August:
Today's The Day . . . Travel Zen to Adriana. Pirata & Ellana as they bring Pirata home. Ellana has promised pictures & the story of meeting Adriana & Pirata, so check back later today!
And that evening, Ellana announces:
PIRATA HAS LANDED
And I'm in LOVE. He is a very sweet guy, currently crated so he can rest a bit. We picked him up from Adriana & her family around dinner time. He didn't make the morning flight because of some crate issues.
He has eaten (lots), had water, peed & pooped. He is in a crate now resting a bit. Rugby & Bonnie are resting right next to the crate. Pirata & Bonnie have had two play sessions already. We're being cautious introducing him to Rugby.
On Tuesday we will be taking Pirata to Dr. Kivney, a vet who owns two Airedales and who is a bit nutty about the breed. If we need to consult with Dr. Daly, Dr. K. will set up the appointment for us. Pirata doesn't use his injured foot at all. When he walks the foot curls under and he puts his weight on the leg bone to the 'wrist'.
Off to uncrate our boy - he isn't crate trained, so we are trying to show him just how NICE a crate can be for a young puppy. I hope he sleeps well tonight. He has had a long long day with many new adventures.
[Thanks to the generosity of Adriana & her family, Pirata did not have to make this trip alone . . . they paid for Pirata's trip and their own.]
On 15 August, Ellana writes:
This is from Sunday evening.

Pirata continues to do well. He has grown since Thursday - I'm sure he is taller & heavier. On Sunday he weighed 24 pounds. He is so active and just loves to play with Bonnie & Rugby (my Airedales) or alone. He is learning to 'fetch' a ball AND bring it back to me. When we were in the yard this afternoon, he caught a butterfly by jumping into the air! He was so proud he pranced around for minutes.
Tomorrow is his appointment with Dr. Kivney. I will report to all what she thinks might be done about Pirata's foot.
