Heere is the reason why I disappeared rather abruptly off line this afternoon! His name is Sarge and he is in "jail". The SPCA in Prince George (a small city about 400 miles north of here) has generously offered him to AireCanada Rescue. We are delighted to help out the SPCA in this respect, and extremely please they contacted us to find a home for Sarge. He is intact and has a cyst on his shoulder the size of an apricot, which needs to be removed. We will be flying him down from Prince George as soon as we can make arrangements to do so. The shelter is having him groomed - which we appreciate enormously - because he is dreadfully matted. I suspect they will end up shaving him to the skin all over.
I have a family who is delighted to accept Sarge as a foster,
and is interested in adopting this boy.
His former family turned him in because they were unwilling to pay the fine for his release following an unscheduled outing. They have had him since he was a puppy and he is now five years old. He ran away a lot (possibly no fenced yard?) and did not get on with the other dog the family owns.
We understand that Sarge is very good with people. The worker to whom I spoke at the shelter admitted that Airedales were not her favorite breed (!!!!), but she really liked this dog's personality and that he has a lot of it . . . .
I hope he looks okay under the mop. His face looks nice to me - what I can see of it . . . cross your paws that this will all work out nicely for poor Sarge!
