SULLY'S SUTURES

Sully & his surgeon, Doctor Linberger.
Terry writes:
Two weeks after surgery, Sully had his sutures removed and the wound is healing beautifully. He no longer has to use the sling and is allowed to walk freely while in the house. He can also take short walks on lead to begin building up muscle tone and to practice using three legs. If there weren't neighbor dogs, he would be able to go in the yard to do his business, but Dr. Linberger doesn't want him running the fence and getting too rambunctious during play for another couple weeks. After that . . . let the games begin!
As he was leaving the the facility where his surgery was performed, he sniffed out an enticing planter just begging to be peed on. He positioned himself just so, with the remaining leg toward the planter but immediately realized his error. So, he turned around with the phantom leg "in position" and did what had to be done, then walked away. I watched carefully and noticed the muscle in the hip rise as if the leg was still there. He is eating very, very well and has attempted light play with his foster sister.
Sully's progress has been amazing and he continues to accept things as they are. He has suffered horrific neglect and unthinkable pain, but loves life and thinks that everyone he meets is his friend. I think that's true, don't you?
In a couple of weeks, he will be well enough to be featured on the ATRA site, searching for his perfect forever home. The home that will chuckle at his silliness, guard him from harm and keep him warm. They will scratch his ears & belly because he can't do it for himself. They will tell him how handsome he is and love him forever. When he and his new family find each other, I will post a final update so all who've kept him in their hearts, prayers and minds can smile & rejoice in the wonder that is Sully. Thank you all!
