Late Friday night, Marilyn Doudt writes:
Sorry I have been gone all day. It has been a very busy day in
rescue for me. I left at 10 AM today and got home at 8 PM tonight. So goes a day in rescue.
Airedale people are wonderful, caring people. I can't believe all that has happened while I was gone. Jan Wiles doesn't know what has happened and she will be very pleased and surprised. She wanted to save these girls, but knew that since she was new and trying to get things going in Oklahoma, it would be difficult. Of course, the timing was bad since she had to go away also. Isn't that always the way it is in rescue?
I have been in contact with the Tulsa Humane Soc rescue contact in Tulsa. Frances, an Airedale rescue volunteer in Tulsa, will go and see the girls tomorrow and she and the HS contact will come up with a time and place to get the girls to Frances, vet and safety. Once Jan gets back on Tuesday, the girls most likely will go to Oklahoma City for boarding until a plan for transport to fosters or homes is planned. So the girls will be safe. I'm not sure of the fees yet to get the girls. Normally they are reasonable.
And thanks to all you for your donations to save these girls. These girls deserve a chance at a wonderful life. With the donations, it will help pay for their vetting, boarding and transport so they can have that chance.
Thanks to Andréa for the donation of scarves and Linda Cunningham for the Home at Last buttons to the people making donations to help these girls.
I will let you know an update tomorrow on the girls. Aren't they too cute? Those eyes.
Thanks again for being there for these girls.
I can't believe it. I just got the e-mail that says we are up to $500.00 for the Tulsa girls. It brings tears to my eyes how generous everyone has been and that these girls will have a chance for a good life.
Airedale lovers are awesome.
I can't wait to hear from Jan. Hopefully she will be calling me in the next day or so to check in on the girls.
[Note: As of Saturday afternoon, donations are over $800.00 - ad]
. . . and on Saturday, Marilyn writes:
Jan Wiles called me this morning to see what is happening with the girls and what are we going to do. She was in SHOCK. She wants to thank everyone for helping these girls and being there for her.
She will get them to Oklahoma City sometime this week and we will come up with a plan to get them transported to Utah.
The dogs are safe at a volunteer's home in Tulsa for the Humane Society there. They will not be euthanized. Norita wants everyone to know that by us taking these dogs it makes a place for her to pull three other dogs and save them from being euthanized in the pound. Which is great news for all.
Thanks again for everything you have done to help these girls.

Marilyn reports to us on Saturday evening:
Frances, an Airedale rescue volunteer went and saw the three girls today. Norita wasn't home, but the girls were in the back yard so she called them. She said they are all very sweet. The mom gave her kisses. Mom is around 60 pounds and she thinks looks very much all Airedale, but houndy-type Airedale. Not sure if her hair hasn't been shaved down and now growing out or if her hair is thin from having puppies and not been taken care of. The puppies, she felt, looked around eight weeks old. Very cute. The fuzzy one looks like a Airedale puppy. The short-hair one she said looks more like a mix, but definitely mostly Airedale.
Frances is so happy that these girls have the potential for a good home. She thinks the Airedale community is awesome.
The plan is that they will go to Nicole in Utah. We have to come up with a plan for transport. We are checking into an airlines and also will start to see about ground transportation. I've been transporting dogs all over Dallas today and calling on applications coming in so haven't had much time as usual.
The girls are safe and will be transported to Oklahoma City once Jan gets back.
Thanks again for all your support for Jan. Dog knows she needs it trying to get rescue started in Oklahoma.
And on 23 June, the members of The Tulsa Trio were given names:
We thought instead of calling them the Tulsa girls we would name them, to give them more personality and make them feel like they are wanted. If their Forever Homes want to change their names once they are adopted, that is OK with us.
Frances, who has visited them and is going to spring them once Jan gets back in town, has named them. They are safe where they are at and are being held for us to pick up.
So here goes:
LUCY - the mom
BETSY - the fuzzy puppy
EMMA - the short-haired puppy
After her nieces.
So from now on I will refer to them as LUCY, BETSY & EMMA.
