TODAY'S THE DAY!

PLANTS

It was a perfect day to work outside: cool (70s) and breezy.

We went to The $1.25 Dollar Tree to pick up some clear plastic glasses,
which they didn't have; I found something else that would work.

Back home, I had to watch the video one more time
and write down the steps to follow:

1. LET PLANTS DRY OUT. However, they were so wet from
being outside in recent rainstorms that I decided not to wait
for that to happen

2. CUT OFF ANY FLOWERS AND/OR SICK LEAVES

3. CLEAN OUT ALL POTTING MIXTURE AROUND ROOTS

4. CUT AWAY ANY DEAD OR ROTTED ROOTS

5. WASH ROOTS

6. MIX 1 TEASPOON TURMERIC WITH 1/2 LITER WATER
(distilled or bottled)

7. STRAIN TURMERIC WATER. I forgot this one;
besides, who has a piece of muslin or cheesecloth handy?

8. WIPE LEAVES WITH TURMERIC WATER,
ON BOTH SIDES OF EACH LEAF

9. SOAK ROOTS IN TURMERIC WATER FOR 30 MINUTES.
Be CAREFUL with this one; turmeric is a DYE as well as an herb

10. CHECK AGAIN FOR DEAD OR ROTTED ROOTS

11. PUT PLANT IN A CONTAINER;
ADD JUST ENOUGH WATER TO COVER ROOTS

12. LEAVE ROOTS IN WATER FOR FOUR WEEKS;
CHANGE WATER WHEN NECESSARY

My first step was to return
to the box in which the plant stand
has been waiting patiently
to be assembled; it came with a
three-piece set of
miniature tools
I thought I could use.

And was I ever right!
The thin spade was invaluable
for untangling roots.
I don't know what I'd've
used otherwise.
