PLANTS

ORCHIDS #3A, #3B & #3C
UNKNOWN VARIETY

PLANTS

This orchid was unusual in that it had a baby growing from the flower stalk.
I asked Linda about it; she said she'd never seen that happen.
We both agreed that leaving it attached until it grows its own roots would be best.

PLANTS

ALL of the roots were outside of the pot; this orchid was determined to live!

PLANTS

I carefully loosened the roots from the pot, but many broke, they were so attached . . .

There were no roots inside the pot; I think this white stuff is mold . . .

PLANTS

. . . showing us why everything that touches the plants should be sterilized.

PLANTS

There is another baby plant growing on this orchid, #3C . . .

PLANTS

Orchid #3B . . .

PLANTS

If roots don't develop on their own,
I may put a ball of peat moss at this junction to force root growth,
but not for quite a while.
