MY NEW CATTLEYA:
We were in Home Depot today
(I've refused to shop
there when I found out
the owners are supporters of
and donors to The Orange 45,
but our garbage disposal broke
and only HD had the replacement
machine and parts. Needs must.
The money I spent was credit
from 2016, which assuaged
my conscience.)
I know, I've often said
I'd never want a Cattleya,
BUT for $10.98 and
this beautiful color . . .
well, as Oscar Wilde said,
"I can resist anything
but temptation."
Join me in unpacking
this delightful little
packages of promises . . .

There were hundreds of these packed 2" orchids,
plus hundreds of already-blooming varieties.
I felt as if I'd walked into an Orchid House;
just overwhelming. The colors! The shapes!
THE PRICES!!
THE REHABBING CONTINUES:
They haven't done much; in fact,
they haven't done anything.
Wednesday, 28 June, will be their four weeks in water;
I've decided that I'd rather repot them
this weekend, if the rainstorms stop.
I bought four bags of Orchid Mix
(bark with perlite & charcoal),
and Neal wil put together the plant stand,
so we should be good to repot.
I do have to learn to distinguish between aerial roots and regular roots,
as aerial roots should NOT be in the planting medium.
They absorb moisture from the air, so need to be out of the pot.
