THE SKRENNINGERS
REMODEL

MAY 2011 THRU ??

After nine resident dogs (Violet, Misha & April @RB;
Cari, Rico, Daisy2Legs, RosieVi the Shy,
Luuceee You Got Some 'Splainin' To Do &
Chrissi-One-Eye), and quite a few fosters,
it was time to get rid of our 25-year-old carpeting.
As Neal likes to say, "It didn't owe us anything."

In fact, he'd wanted to do this for several years,
but the thought of packing up "stuff" and
moving furniture was too overwhelming for me,
so I continued to demur . . . and ignore the smell.

While I was in Arizona for two months [HERE],
Neal packed up my entire room,
including computer, computer workstation,
books & bookcase & bed, carried it all out to the garage,
painted the room and put in lovely new flooring.

Vinyl, or as they now call it, RESISTANT flooring
was the best choice, for obvious reasons.
This is what Neal chose for my room . . .

How he managed to carry in the roll of vinyl -
THROUGH THE WINDOW! -
I'll never understand!

When I came home, we put the room back together;
I was thrilled with the result; I finally realized it
was definitely time to redo the entire house.
So we moved on to the next project . . . his room.

At least he had someone to help move the roll of vinyl
through the window this time.
AND carry out the mattresses, armoire & dresser.

(Had I mentioned that because of certain dogs who-shall-remain-nameless,
the covering of the bottom of both box mattresses was destroyed?
In fact, Foster Zoey started tearing it off;
Luuceee would often climb into the box mattress to sleep.
So I bought some new fabric and stapled it on.
Also, underbed storage is GREAT for keeping dogs
from hiding under the bed. Altho with no carpet to dig into,
no dog seems interested in going under there anymore.)

Two rooms done; several more to go.
