RETURN TO PAINTING

I was sure I'd taken pics on the second painting day, but guess I was wrong.
Suffice it to say the crew came back, painted everything,
including the bathroom, and left.
Lyndi said to me, as she was going out the door,
"Oh, by the way. I couldn't get the orange you wanted,
so I got this industrial orange instead."
WTF????? This orange was obiously left over from
Howard Johnson's, and between that and the
turquoise garage door, NO WONDER folks were stopping by,
asking for a room and some clam rolls!
So the paint that I was hoping would become a subtle orange
when it dried, wouldn't. I'm so grateful it is on
the wall with the least area showing.
I think this crew was sloppier than I'd expected
professionals to be: paint on the new flooring,
on the house vinyl, covering door hinges;
OTOH, cleaning up a bit is still better than
having had to paint this large area. I think.
Neal & I went to the Sherwin-Williams paint store
to purchase the pearlizing paint . . . which has real pearls
ground into it. It was so expensive that I thought I should wear it.
Well, I can't say it looks the way I want it,
although the orange wall turned out better than the cranberry one.
So after two coats of the pearlized paint,
the second time with the correct roller,
we still can't eliminate the roller marks.
This wall will be going back to its original
cranberry color. I think. I'm still
planning to see if there is anything I can add
to the paint to make it glimmer some.
Gold dust, maybe?
We're letting them be for the time being . . .
we have other projects to do.
