NOW PLAYING: TO MAKE YOU FEEL MY LOVE, by BOB DYLAN
(INSTRUMENTAL VERSION - ADAPTED LYRICS BY JACKIE McGUINNESS)

This is my anthem for our intrepid R4R Trio.
I dedicate it to all rescuers because they go
that extra mile to save a fuzzy quadruped.
I hope the big 'dale hugs it brings with it soothe
the aches & pains and sends them on their way smiling.

When the rain is blowing in your face
And the gale force wind is on your case
all we think of is a rescue 'dale
In a warm and happy place.

When the evening shadows and the stars appear
And there is no one there to dry your tears
We think of all the pledges made
To help us through another cycle day.

We'd go hungry, we'd go black and blue
We'd go cycling down the avenue
There's nothing that we wouldn't do
To make you feel our love.

The storms are raging on the rollin' prairie
And on the highways just ahead, you bet
The winds of change are blowing wild and free
You ain't seen a trio looking quite so . . .

So, the saga continues.

Repaving project . . .

Imagine how hot it was to sit here and wait
for the pilot car to let us go.
One lane of traffic. It was awful.

I wish I could say it was a piece of cake, but it wasn't.
We experienced much the same as we have from the beginning:
Hills, sun, wind & heat.
Oh yeah, did I mention that there were some hills today?
They just never end.
A fellow rider who lives just a few miles from here
told us that the hill into somewhere
(I can't remember the names of the towns anymore)
was the worst hill of the entire week.
I'm glad we have that behind us.

We had a very interesting night. I was so sore from meeting the pavement that when
I went to bed last night I went into a DEEP sleep.
I woke in the middle of the night and BOTH legs were totally cramped up.
They were actually contorted. I started screaming.
Lee was trying to help me get up, but I was in such pain,
I couldn't help him at all. He couldn't get the tent unzipped
and there was no room in there for him to really pull me up.
I continued to scream and moan.

This made me think of Christine & Tim's ROLLING 4 RESCUE 2006.

Ph

No goose poop, though. In fact, I never saw one goose.

When Lee tried to lift me to carry me out of the tent, he dropped me.
(Ouch.)
I landed on my foot funny; my little toe was bent backwards and popped.

Charlie traveled all the way from Belfast . . .

. . . to ride across Kansas.

This morning it was completely swollen up and black & blue.
Cathy put on her doctor hat and taped it to
its little buddy next door and tried to create a splint
so that I could be on my bike. It is pretty painful.
It has to get better because the trip can't get much worse.

This was the big hill; my picture doesn't do it justice.

Ph

Believe me when I tell you it was awful.

As we were traveling down the highway this morning,
I asked Cathy if she heard me screaming. She said,
"All I heard was you saying, 'Oh Lee, Oh Oh, Help Me. Leeeeeeee'"
She said she heard Lee trying to get the tent unzipped
and she thought I had diarrhea and he was trying to get me out of the tent.
