CODY GOES HOME!

SEPTEMBER 2010

On 26 September, Shell Lewis writes:

In the past seven days, several Midwest dogs have moved on to their forever homes and the Midwest Team would like to acknowledge our new families and those who assisted along the way . . . .

COREY (now Finn) was in our adoption program for all of five days before he was spoken for. COREY is now living with Steve Czablewski & Bridgette Blazek of Illinois.

Steve's mom, Eileen, was one of CRUSA's original members and our group's first Midwest Placement Director.

HANNAH GOES HOME!

25 SEPTEMBER 2010

Ph

Suzanne Ehlert of Illinois is the neighbor of Bette Boyers & Deb Scheuring, who have twice adopted CRUSA dogs (Bella & Holly). Over the years, Suzanne has fallen in love with Bette & Deb's dogs and, as of yesterday, has a Cairn of her own! Suzanne is "fostering to adopt" HANNAH, who was being fostered by Belinda Cheatham of Illinois.

I NEVER saw a dog so happy. Suzanne is calling her Ms.Hannah B. for Hannah Banana. HANNAH was kind of shy and didn't want to be in the crate in the car; when we let her out in the yard she went crazy!

She loved Suzanne & Princess and ran & played! Looked like a pup. Sure didn't look like a mill dog.

She peed about seven times and pooped twice with dire rears, but I'm sure that was from the long car drive - 170 miles round trip! I was beat.

But I got my reward when HANNAH KNEW she was in her forever home. Arnie liked her too and he fixed the fence!! Looked awesome. HANNAH is one happy camper and Suzanne went to our good dog food store and bought good food and little buddy treats!

She already has an appontment for the groomer next weekend, and new toys!!!

LOVE. Ain't it grand???

It was a busy week for the Midwest team and we are so appreciative to our new families & foster homes. In addition, I want to thank Jodi, Carol, Shannon & Eileen on our fabulous reference team for doing their usual "bang up" job on the reference checks. And a big "thanks" also goes out to Lisa Zulegar of Wisconsin, Diane Pease of Wisconsin, Marla Lunt & Nan Chernik at K-9 Playtime in Mundelein, Illinois and Pam Spacek of Illinois for the important roles they played in finding our Cairns new homes.

That little Hannah B just knows she is home. She was runnin' & playin' & talkin' with all our dogs at the fence yesterday! Little cutie pie. I gave her a new harness, brush & comb.

Now that I'm home, bathed, settled and fed,
All nicely tucked in my warm new bed.
I'd like to open my baggage
Lest I forget,
There is so much to carry -
So much to regret.

Hmm . . . Yes there it is, right on the top -
Let's unpack Loneliness, Heartache and Loss,
And there by my leash hide Fear and Shame.
As I look on these things I tried so hard to leave -
I still have to unpack my baggage called Pain.

I loved them, the others, the ones who left me,
But I wasn't good enough - for they didn't want me.
Will you add to my baggage?
Will you help me unpack?
Or will you just look at my things
And take me right back?

Do you have the time to help me unpack?
To put away my baggage,
To never re-pack?
I pray that you do - I'm so tired you see,
But I do come with baggage -
Will you still want me?
