ROSE GOES TO THE VET AGAIN

Pam writes:
When we said we were going to the vet, Rose got excited. She loved going out the door on the lead and getting into the car. The more we learn, the more I realize she has been treated . . . going places, doing things, keeping her mind active!
At any rate, she got really excited as we entered the vet's office. I suspect that was a very social event for her and her hu-Daddy.
She has lost a bit over a pound (without getting table scraps from the seniors anymore). She is getting plenty to eat, so that has to be what was happening; I still chuckle at that.
At any rate, the vet was SO impressed with Rose's very own book that Andréa made. She wanted to keep it there as she wants to call the vet that took care of her prior to see why she was given heart tests just prior to her last dental. The vet says she has a couple of teeth that look like she could lose them during a dental. The growth also looks like a benign tumor to her. She says she will lose the two teeth that are associated with those as well, but those teeth are not all that important.
However, she wants to call the vet and talk about all the care she got, especially in light of a dental. She says that her weight will be a serious issue during a dental; they will need to leave a vet tech with her to ensure she does not choke off her breathing once the tube is removed, because of her fat. So if we can postpone the cleaning for at least a couple more weeks that would be a good thing.
At any rate, the vet also says that it is very unlikely that Rose will change her behavior about the coprophagia, so whoever gets her will just have to go out with her each time to pick it up ASAP. She is not likely to adjust her behavior at this late date.
31 March:
Two of the grandbabies were over yesterday, and while we did not allow a face-to-face meeting - Rose was in the front bedroom with Harley - whe seemed to be very excited & happy about seeing them. They each went up to the baby gate and talked to her through it. She listened and we think tried to give them kisses. So, while I do not think she should go to a home with small children in it, it went far better than I thought it might.
We have not put them in one room yet while gone, though the only issues thus far are during feeding - Rose MUST be fed separated from other dogs. We do that anyway with our dogs, only because Molly savors her food, taking about 20-30 minutes to eat, while Harley gobbles his all down in a couple of minutes. While they have never fought, he would push Molly aside given half a chance and she would permit it; mostly he sits there drooling and looking extremely pathetic.

2 APRIL:
Rose had been having trouble doing up & down the two steps to the back door, so we have been carrying her up & down. I went to Menard's and got some of those carpet tiles that are washable and put some of them on the steps because Harley also slides on them a bit.
But little Missy has already moved into Princess mode on this. She waits at the top or bottom of the steps and as you bend down, she stands up on her hind legs, HELPING you in picking her up. She especially does this for Steve. She is one smart cookie about spoiling!
Steve forgot and left Harley in the kitchen one day as he was preparing their food. He typically feeds her first in there, hands me their two bowls and I put them in their locations. But Harley started to move in on her bowl. There was a LOT of noise and snapping, but no one was injured in the process. He is more careful now!
She responds much more to Steve than to me.
