LEROY GOES TO THE VET

1 JUNE 2017

Bill writes:

Leroy continues to
do well in Chicago.
He had a vet visit yesterday
and charmed each and
every staff person there!

The vet reports that overall,
Leroy is doing very well.
Good weight (31 pounds,
good heavens!),
teeth overall are okay
(some tartar in back).
Some cysts on his body that
the doc believes are benign
and nothing to worry about.

Ph

As usual, Leroy responded to lots of loving (and treats!) while in the office,
and greeted other dogs in the waiting room with his
unmistakable "whine & bark" greeting!

Ph

Doc says the skin condition
that made him lose some fur
appears to be an
allergic reaction,
and will probably stabilize
now that he's in a stable environment.
I can report that his skin
no longer has a distinct odor.
He's getting his Tea Tree
shampoos and is fresh as a daisy.
His fur is starting to
grow back nicely.

He has obviously gotten over
some of his camera-shyness
and is doing a bit of
posing for us now.
I think he was just a little
spooked by something foreign
being "aimed" at him,
but look at him now!

Leroy upon arrival was considerably fearful about going down stairs.
I can only surmise that he may have been kicked or thrown
down stairs by the way he initially reacted to them.
Fast forward: He now goes down the stairs (slowly, gingerly,
with a little bit of encouragement) and goes up the stairs
without prompting (also slowly and deliberately).
A big improvement over his frozen stance at the top of the stairs,
or worse, my picking up 31 pounds of dog and carrying him up and down!

Ph

He continues to improve each day,
and is responsive, happy, affectionate and quite vocal!
He's a joy to take care of, and will be a loving addition to his forever home.
