SHELBY GOES TO THE VET

6 MARCH 2018

This morning, Shelby suddenly "discovered" this dog bed
in the firewood storage area next to the fireplace.
It USED to be Heather's Safe Spot,
but she hasn't used it since one of the Holiday trees stood nearby.

Ph

HEY, did you guys know there's a dog bed in here??

We scored an appointment
with Dr. Leah today,
thanks to a cancellation;
luckily, I'd collected samples
during the dogs's
first outs at 6:45 a.m.
just in case.

Shelby was a dream girl
on the ride there and at the vet;
EVERYone thought she was lovely!

Here is Shelby with Vet Tech Daniell;
note that their outfits are
color-coordinated.

Ph

Temperature is normal; no heart murmur; heartrate is normal.
Teeth are in terrible shape; the front ones look okay,
but the molars need some extractions.
Unfortunately, the next opening for a dental is 4 April,
unless there is a cancelation. As Shelby has had several homes
in her short life, I had been hoping to get her into
a ForEver Home ASAP.

Ph

Shelby is on a 10-day regimen of Clindamycin,
then a three-day regimen before her dental appointment.
She has a pea-sized lump in her armpit that we will monitor.
Heartworm, urine and fecal test results will come in later this week.

Ph

Three beautiful smiles!

Shelby is crate-trained, housebroken and uses the doggie door
to the dogs' bathroom area. We are working on her NOT
chasing SweeTea as if she was a squirrel, and the command,
NO CHASE! seems to be working. We are also working
on stopping SweeTea from growling at Shelby and setting her off.

I hope some good-hearted person reads this and asks for her. She is such a sweetie.

SHELBY'S VET REPORT

9 MARCH 2018

Dr. Hathaway writes: Wow!!

The most beautiful blood screen I have ever seen!

Only thing to watch will be the mild inflammation
(White blood cells) in urine.
This may indicate vaginitis or early UTI,
but good news is she is already on antibiotics.

Monitor for licking, frequent urinations etc.
If seen, a recheck urine and/or alternate antibiotic
would be indicated.
If persists despite that, may discuss radiograph
to rule out other causes for inflammation.

Very impressive screen though!
We are good to proceed with dental as planned.

(I must mention here that after a few days of Clindamycin,
Shelby's breath has vastly improved.)

GOT TOYS? SURE DO! HERE
