SMOOCHIE CROSSES
THE RAINBOW BRIDGE

2 NOVEMBER 2015

(Photos taken on Monday, 26 October 2015)

On 2 November, Violetta writes:

It is with a heavy heart
that I must tell you that
Smoochie went to the
Rainbow Bridge today.

She had been doing
quite well up until last night,
eating everything on her plate,
going out with the pack
to do her business, sleeping well,
walking around the house,
barking with the other dogs, etc.
She would even demand
her afternoon snack
(and I mean DEMAND,
scratching my shoe & leg
if I forgot and heading to
the doggie room where her
snack was usually served -
she was very much a
creature of habit -
her breakfast and dinner
were served in the crate
in the kitchen and that is where
she would look for her meals
in the mornings and evenings).

She certainly was happier after her eye with the uncontrolled glaucoma was removed.

Ph

Last night, however, she refused her dinner and began to get weak.
Although she went outside with the other Cairns to do her business,
I had to carry her back inside.
This morning she again went out to the yard with the other Cairns,
peed and pooped, but again needed to be carried back inside,
and once inside, she drank a lot of water and collapsed.
She recovered, had some more water, went to sleep
and within a few minutes, she was gone.

RIP Smoochie.

RAINBOW BRIDGE

Just this side of Heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here,
that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills
for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine
and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor;
those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again,
just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing:
they each miss someone very special, someone who was left behind.

They all run and play together,
but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance.
Her bright eyes are intent; her eager body begins to quiver.
Suddenly, ahe breaks from the group, flying over the green grass,
faster and faster. You have been spotted,
and when you and your special friend finally meet,
you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again.
The happy kisses rain upon your face;
your hands again caress the beloved head,
and you look once more into those trusting eyes,
so long gone from your life, but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together . . .

Gr

BETSI GREENE:
So sad to hear she has passed, but grateful that it was
quick and easy and she went peacefully with those who loved her with her.
And very glad that her last days were pain free.

Gr

MARILYN ROYLE:
I cannot tell you how much sadness I am feeling over the loss of Smoochie.
She had really become everyone's Cairn, and I miss her terribly,
even though I had never met her in person.
Thank you for all the years of love and nurturing that you gave her.
And I know she gave it all back to you. My deepest condolences.

Gr

PERLA CHIAFFITELLA:
Safe journey, Smoochie, and run free.

Gr

DEBRA COMBS WICKLINE:
My heart is broken learning this sad news this morning.
I know Smoochie had a wonderful like with Violetta
and is at peace at the Bridge. Prayers.
God speed, you're at rest and pain-free, little one!

But you made that time pain free and she knew love and safety.

Gr

Poor wee girl; at least her last few months were pain free
and the crossing was quick and easy for her and her foster mom.
It's always kinder when you don't have to sign that form.
Run free, wee girl.

Gr

ELAINE ALGER:
Violetta emailed me last night about Smoochie. I read her email with tears in my eyes,
as we had met Smoochie when we went to Violetta's with Phil.
I met all the pooches at Violetta's and so they seemed special to me. I am very sad indeed.

Gr

BOB ANDERSON:
I'm shedding a tear for Smoochie . . .
so glad she had some "normalcy" and love before she crossed.

Gr

SUZY WINCHESTER:
I am saddened to hear that Smoochie has passed on.
It was inevitable due to her medical conditions, yet,
it breaks my heart. I am sure this is heartbreaking for Violetta, as well.
Thankfully, Smoochie is no longer in pain and able to run
and have her sight regained. Run free, sweet Smoochie . . . .

Gr

TOM & NINA SADLER:
So sorry to hear about Smoochie. Rest easy, little girl.

Gr

GAIL BENTZINGER:
I'm so sorry for her sudden loss, poor little girl.

Now she is with all the others.
