My friend, neighbor and partner-in-crime Lisa & I drove just south of Gurnee, Illinois to meet Kathy & Bob Gamache, Chloe's new Mom & Dad. Kathy & Bob were driving from Michigan to pick her up.
I found a beach towel in the trunk, so we decided to wait for them out in back of The Cracker Barrel . . . we sat on the grass and waited for them to come.
I had given Chloe a bath the night before and had put a pink clip in her hair, but she kept shaking it out . . . I did manage to get one picture with it in and then gave up! Traffic was backed up so we just enjoyed the beautiful day, and I had more time with her before I had to say goodbye, too.
We saw them pull up;
She sees Chloe and starts crying . . .
Bob kept saying, "Look how cute she is, Kathy.
Bob wanted to get back on the road because of the traffic backups, as they were driving straight back home. Of course I was sad at her leaving; Chloe is such a great little girl . . . but when I see people like Kathy & Bob on the receiving end, it makes the handover much easier.
Kathy emailed me that night to let me know they made it home safe & sound . . . Chloe slept most of the way home and was terrific in the car.
The next morning she emailed me again and said that last night, Chloe never made it to the crate they bought for her . . . Bob had her in bed with him for the whole night!
They took her for a long walk at 7:30 this morning and stopped at Bob's brother's house so he could meet her, too. He will be Chloe's babysitter if ever the need arises. They were planning a picnic for the day at a beautiful park where they live, and of course, Chloe will be going along! Sounds like she has a good life ahead of her, wouldn't you agree?

Now that I'm home, bathed, settled and fed,
Hmm . . . Yes there it is, right on the top -
I loved them, the others, the ones who left me,
Do you have the time to help me unpack?
