Easter Morning was so cold that if the Easter Bunny HAD left any eggs, they'd have rolled around the yard on top of 15" of snow! As it was, Cari, Rico & Daisy were able to play games on top of the snow . . . Rico with the Kong (and in his bellyband - don't ask) . . .
. . . and Daisy, easily scootin' along on her back legs . . .
. . . even trying a little 'sledding' on a frozen incline.
Several hours later, of course, the snow was no longer frozen and when they again RAN outside and leaped at what they thought would be the TOP of the snow, they sank right in. Perplexed would be the word that would best describe their expressions. Startled would best describe Rico-the-Boy-Dog's expression. And I notice that they don't want to stay outside, even though it is warmer.
What is so disconcerting is that, amidst all this snow, the birds are in full throat with their spring songs: robins, complaining vociferously about being here too soon; woodpeckers claiming territory and fighting with nuthatches; peewees and cardinals and sparrows (always sparrows) and chickadees. Seems so strange to hear all that, with 15" of snow on the ground.
