TIN MAN HAS SURGERY 2 OCTOBER 2014

Tracie writes: Please say a prayer today as one of my favorite former fosters, Jack, (f/k/a Tin Man), is having surgery today to remove a tumor from his spleen . . . his mama sent me an email yesterday saying that even though it's expensive, she couldn't not give him a chance. Praying that it's not cancer . . . but if so, he can live without his spleen if it comes to that. I'd like the prayers of all the great CRUSA folks going to Jack & his mama Betsi. At 1:06 p.m., Betsi writes: He's out of surgery and doing well. Surgeon said the mass was larger than expected: more like a grapefruit than a tennis ball - she said he did well with no heart issues or anything and is in recovery. There were some spots on his liver, but sometimes older dogs have them and they are nothing. Everything - liver included - has been biopsied and sent off, but it'll be next week before we hear anything. If the thing was cancerous and the liver is involved, there isn't anything to do, but know it and see how things go. There would be no further treatment. Tracie: I think it's a good sign that he didn't have any heart issues while under anesthesia. She'll let me know next week what comes back from the biopsies, SO . . . we all need to keep praying like crazy, please! I love this boy! 3 October: Jack post surgery. Betsi says he's pacing a lot. I told her he's probably wondering what happened to him! They all look so pitiful in the cone. On 8 October, Tracie writes: Just got an email from his mom - all results came back BENIGN!!!! It was a hematoma on the spleen; the spots on his liver are just "old dog liver spots". Thanks for all the prayers.
