(today Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany)
Honored in Roman Catholic Church
Major shrine: Lutwinuskirche, Mettlach Abbey
Feast: September 23
Saint Leudwinus, Count of Treves founded an abbey in Mettlach.
He is the patron saint of Mettlach parish and his relics are carried
by procession at the annual Pentecost celebration through the town.

Bonnie at the Saar
The Saar is a river in northeastern France & western Germany,
and a right tributary of the Moselle.
It rises in the Vosges mountains on the border of Alsace & Lorraine
and flows northwards into the Moselle near Trier.
After 246Ękm (126Ękm in France and 120Ękm in Germany),
the Saar flows into the Moselle at Konz (Rhineland-Palatinate)
between Trier & the Luxembourg border.
The Saar was very important for the Saarland coal, iron & steel industries.
