Sue & I had a long chat last week on the phone, as I can call her for free.

GREAT news! The well at Wombat Bend got put in and is refilling the billabong again. Best of all! With the blessings the Airezen directed at Wombat Bend, it was a relatively shallow well of 39 meters. The water is very high quality & delicious. Best of all! It is a flowing, artesian well that flows at the rate of 6000 liters per hour! That is 6000 liter = 1585.03 gallon [US, liquid] per hour or 26.4 gallons per minute! That is a lot of sweet clear water pouring up out of the ground to the aid of Wombat Bend and all it represents! Sue & Bill will have wonderful water to nourish themselves as well.

By November 2009, the billabong was again filled with water . . .

With this, the refilling of the billabong, more animals are coming into Wombat Bend for food & water. Sue & Bill will be able to trickle irrigate around the place so that it will return to the oasis for plants & animals that it has been prior to the droughts & fires. This will be a huge factor in the recovery from the fires for the local flora & fauna. They will have a safe place for food, water & recovery amidst the devastation that they survived.

. . . and a pump to make sure it STAYS that way!

As was predictable, Sue & Bill, being who they are, they have been actively & financially supporting the efforts for the surviving wildlife. Sue is feeding & watering for animals around the area. Some are being captured for medical care. They have donated generously to Help for Wildlife and Porscha and her work near them at Wombat Bend.

Their wombats are doing fine.

They are all a bit shell-shocked, as is to be expected, but will rally around and are getting things done. Austraflora is doing OK as there are growers at places that were not burned over. I asked Sue about the damage to plants at Wombat Bend and she admitted that their future breeding stock & hybrid program have sustained considerable damage, as I feared. Every time I have called they have been on the phone, busy with business, and they will survive these setbacks.

The water that they now have is the BEST of news and will let them and the animals & plants move forward to renew life quickly & vigorously.
