I awoke this morning, fearing that Bill had NOT understood me correctly and had thought that Mike & I had sent Sue the money, ourselves. Sue handles the computer and online money stuff, not Bill. Bill didn't even know what PayPal was.
I called and got Sue.
Bill had gotten it RIGHT. He understood. Sue knows it is from everybody. Bill told her straight off that it was from Airedalers & others around the world.
Sue was being protestful, as expected. She gets it, is just blown away, and saying that they don't need it, etc. etc. . . . I wouldn't listen to it.
I told her that nobody meant it as a burden for them in any way. If they need gas/petrol to run a bobcat, they have the funds; food for the table, money for water, gas for the generator, etc.
She gets it. Blown away, but, she gets it and understands where it is coming from. She was alternatively weepy, and protestful, and understanding. Overwhelmed, basically. I told her to NOT give it all away to someone & everyone. She is to sit on a chunk of this for THEIR own personal use, absolutely.
She was trying to get me to commit to telling her, eventually, who donated, and I told her flat out; NO, this is anonymous. No burden to them. We all know they will do what is best and necessary with the funds.
She was talking about some wallabies, injured ones, that came in. I told her, there you go, you can help Porscha some with the meds, bandages and vetting on some of the critters. Food for injured & starving animals is not totally free and you are feeding critters.
Sue at one point said something about how fast the funds were raised . . . I told her that money was from the first three days; more is coming in daily and the checks that are in the mail will be adding more . . . . She wailed in disbelief, "NO, oh my God! Oh, Kirk!" My response was, "We wish it could be a thousandfold more."
They get it. Blown away more than a little, but they get it. I told her that with one exception, a memorial donation, all people have said with their donations is, basically, "Thank you for making this happen, Kirk."
We went through the exercise: "Sue, say - Thank You." Sue, "Thank you." Kirk, "You are welcome. Done. I will will let the others know you thank them."
And for those who were wondering: Due to the fact that Little Forrest was rehomed to another part of the area, he was probably not endangered by any fires.
